You can use Bord na Móna Growise Farmyard Manure before sowing in the spring or autumn. Spread the manure on the soil just before planting and fork it in. Put manure in the bottom of drills, holes and trenches.
Planting roses, shrubs and trees:
Dig a hole that gives the roots plenty of room to grow. Mix the manure with the soil you’ve dug out in a ratio of one part manure to three parts soil. Holding the plant in place, fill in the hole, firm the soil and manure mixture around the plant and water it thoroughly.
For new lawns:
Clear the soil of weeds and stones. Spread 1-2 inches of manure on the soil and dig it in. Roll or tread the soil flat before sowing seed or laying turf.
Around existing plants:
In spring, clear any weeds and spread manure 1-2 inches deep around plants. Leave a gap of 2-3 inches between the manure and plant stems. The manure will suppress new weeds while providing nutrients to encourage plant growth.
